How to split a PDF file?
Nowadays PDF format has became the preferred, standard file format for management for business and consumer alike. It is now recognized globally as the ideal electronic format for storing and sharing documents via the World Wide Web, email and CD-ROM. Unlike other file format, PDF files are not targets for virus and their small file size greatly increases email transfer speeds across networks, reduces internet viewing and download times and maximizes efficiency. Sharing PDF files guarantees the receiver sees the document exactly as you intend.
However, we may also come across some large PDF files but just need to share part of which to the receivers sometimes. In this case, extracting part of PDF content and producing a new PDF file become necessary. Then we need to split a PDF file with a PDF splitter. Firstly and most importantly, Download PDF Splitter and install it on your PC.
Secondly, Launch the program and import the PDF file you need to split. Double click the quick start icon on your desktop to launch the program, and then click Browse button in the Select File Section on the top of the program to import a PDF file. Also you can drag a PDF file directly from the local folder to the program to import it.
Thirdly, Select the Split Method.
In the Select Split Method section, there are 5 methods for you to choose. Knowing how each method works can facilitate you to split your PDF file more efficient and flexible:
Method 1: Split by every n pages
Select this option and enter a number into the combo box, this split mode allows you to split the imported PDF file into smaller PDF files with n pages per file.
Method 2: Split by bookmarks
Select this option and select a level number of the bookmark from the combo box, the imported PDF file will be split according to the structure of the bookmark. For example, if you enter the number 1, the imported PDF file will be separated where there is a level 1 bookmark. Click the button Setting to view the bookmark structure.
If the bookmark does not point to the top, the page will be two parts---Select it, and if the content for the title in the bookmark does not start from the very beginning of one page, this page will be also included in the section before this title.
Generate higher level bookmark files---Select it, and if the specified level is not level 1, the imported PDF file will also be separated based on all higher levels. For example, the bookmark of the PDF file has 3 levels, and you select the level number 3 to split this file, if you select this option, the PDF file will also be separated based on level 1 and level 2.
Method 3: Split by page ranges
Select this option and enter the page numbers or page ranges for those pages you want to extract, all the selected pages will be combined into a new PDF file. Please note that page numbers or page ranges should be separated with commas. Rest of the selected pages can also be combined into a new PDF file if you select the option: The rest of the pages generate another PDF file.
Method 4: Split by specific page ranges to multiple PDF files
Select this option and click the button Setting to customize the output PDF files. You extract specific page ranges from one PDF file to generate multiple PDF files at one time. Click New in the Custom Settings, you can add up to 200 copies of the multi-page PDF file to the panel to customize the specific page ranges separately.
Method 5: Split averagely to n PDF files
Select this option and enter a number into the combo box, the program will split the imported PDF file averagely into n PDF files. For example, if you enter the number 2, the program will divide the imported file into 2 average PDF files.
